Alright, I picked one up for $10. It has the
old cable for the "macintosh office setup"
which looks like a localtalk box(phonenet)
only with three pin holes. It also has a
modem style cable hook up and a switch
that has "appletalk";"special"; "9600";and
"1200" as the options. Any clues as to
how to get this thing to work with
powerbook 1400 or a LC575?
Thanks rf

First: make sure you have the LaserWriter driver installed. Shouldn't be any problem; the Mac OS installs it by default so unless you've deleted it, you already have it.
Next: get yourself an AppleTalk networking box for the 1400 and one for the 575, and a couple cables besides. Alternatively, get yourself three PhoneNet boxes (uses phone cable to connect instead of those nasty 3-pin things) and terminators. Hook those to the printer ports on the two Macs, make sure the printer is set to AppleTalk, and make sure AppleTalk on the two Macs is set to the printer port.
Go to the Chooser, select LaserWriter, and make sure the LW Plus is turned on. It should appear in the Chooser.
