I am looking at buying a G5 dual 2.7 in the near future in order to replace my trusty old PC and cope with higher demands from music programmes. After reading a lot of hype that the processors will soon be switching (To Pentiums or something???) and after reading some posts it seems that some people are advising new buyers to stick out until the changeover has taken place? Is this true or will there be little noticable difference in the performance? I know that either way it is still going to be a beast but when spending over 2 and a half grand on a new system, I would rather wait a bit longer and have something quicker and more powerful. Is this a one-sided argument or are there mixed feelings?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as mentioned above I am keen to get one soon but would like to know that I'm getting the best possible deal for the money. Thanks

P.S Will these machiens be dearer

Horses for courses I'm afraid. Personally, if it was me, I would purchase now because the new Intel-based Macs won't be on the market for a while, and, also, there will be bugs to iron out within the first 12months or so of them going on sale.
However, no-one can make the decision for you, it is entirely your money and your choice, I have only expressed my own opinion of what I would do if I was in your position.
Regards,
Kyomii

I agree, buy what you need now, the machine will serve well,
also, the transition to Intel chips is 12 months to 2 years
away.
