G4 won't power up

Computer won't power up - No chime - Monitor stays black - CD/DVD drive opens with button - keyboard doesn't work. Power light stays lit.

Have you tried zapping the PRAM? - pull the power lead to force the G4 off, then put the power lead back in and hold down Apple-option-P-R on the keyboard before pushing the power-on button. If you're lucky the machine will chime: wait for four chimes.

I also have a similar problem with my G4 25o tower...
was upgrading from 9.22 to Tiger and after what the installer said was a successful upgrade..the machine rebooted and froze halfway through the restart...had the apple logo and a gear that spun for a few seconds and froze...
I rebooted my machine andViola!! Same problem as mentioned above...Izapped the pram...changed thebattery...tried taking the hrad drives (boot9GB that came with it and 80GB i addedlater) and putting them into an externalUSB/Firewire case hooked to my stepdaughter's I-Mac G4, removing the Tiger system folders and rebooting into OS 9.2.2...no luck!
Any other ideas?? I am tearing out what little hair I have left over this...is this common?? In 9 plus years as a mac user, I never had this happen...
