G4 will not boot up not even from CD

My G4 took a nasty crash. It pretty much froze on me while using IMOVIE and doing movie transfers. It was freezing the last couple of times but just a restart and back to normal. This last time no luck, system folder missing, ???? all over the place. I then put my G4 recovery CD and that does not work. It will not boot up from here. Tried a regular OS9 cd nothing either, even tried an OS 8.5 and no luck. Put in another HD and did all these steps again, NOTHING! Any info as to what this can be? Any help appreciated

Try zapping the PRAM and then see if booting from the CD works.

Try zapping the PRAM from within Open Firmware, or see if you can force a boot from the CD from within Open Firmware. The former can be achieved by holding cmd-opt-O-F and then typing the following at the prompt:
