G4 SCSI won't recongnize scanner/hd

Help! I just switch from a powermac 8600/300 to a G4. I daisy chained my SCSI cable to my external HD and scanner (properly terminated) to my new G4 just as I had with my PowerMac. But, the SCSI card won't recongnize anything, even when I hook up each device directly...I even changed the SCSI card with a new one in a different slot. Still nothing! All my other macs would reconginize what ever was hooked up to my SCSI port after restart with the external unit(s) on. Not the G4.. What am I missing?? Thanks for any suggestions!
