I just connected my flat panel iMac to the internet via cable modem. YEA !!! My son has a G3 450mhz iMac in his room which is on another floor. What is needed to get a wireless internet connection to the G3 iMac? I know some type of router is required but that's about all I know. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks -jk

In order to use a wireless internet connection, each Mac must have an AirPort card (About $80.) Also, you must buy a wireless router (AKA "base station" or "access point.") Apple sells one (the AirPort Extreme Base Station) for $200, or you can buy any router compatible with the 802.11b standard. Non-Apple base stations might be a little harder to set up, but they are MUCH cheaper.
I would suggest you buy a single AirPort card for the iMac upstairs, and a combination wired/wireless router. Connect the G4 iMac to the router using an ethernet cable, and the G3 iMac over wireless. There's a Linksys WAP11 Wireless-B with a 4-port ethernet + wireless router for about $60 on Amazon, for example. [Disclaimer: I have no personal experience with this product]

You don't actually have to buy a base station at all - you will have to install an Airport card in both Macs but you can use the one connected to the cable modem to act like a base station and share its connection with the other Mac. Of course you will have to keep this Mac turned on if you want the other one to access it.
