I recently posted a message concerning which graphics card i should buy for my g4 400mhz 1999 computer. It was suggested that I purchase nVidia's GeForce 4 (make sure you get the Mac version) or ATI's Radeon 8500. In the setup manual, it states that my mac was designed specifically for a agp card with 32-bit data width. THis 66mhz slot accommodates 3.3 volt agp 1x or 2x card. Can anyone tell me if my g4 could take advantage of the Radeon 8500 (64MB) or would my g4 only be able to handle the Radeon 7000 (32MB)? I just don't want to buy anything over what my g4 will be able to use. ANy help would be much appreciated! Thanks

AGP is AGP. It'll work fine.

I too have a G4 400 tower. I have recently bought a second hand Geforce4 MX AGP based card. I use to run the ATI that came standard with the 400. I have both the ATI and nVidia extensions. If i don't run any of the nVidia extensions, do i not gain any advantage from the card? If i only run the nVidia extensions, quicktime seems to load movie files without a picture in them. It just freaks out and i have to hard restart the machine. Totally confused?? PLEASE help me!
