Subject: G3(B&W)firmware/No system CD
OS: OS 9 retail
CPU/Ram: 300/128
Comment:

Reinitialized hard drive, totally erased all data, no system disks. Boot from OS 9 retail package. "You must update firmware" message. Open CD extra to load. Message says "Can not update firmware, volume is locked" Drag it into the untitled partition and try to load but get same message. Please help.

You do not have to update firmware to reload system after a disk initialization.After you finish you reinstall and upgradeing,
