Hello,
At first, I had Panther successfully running fine. It was a fresh format/installed OS. I ran all the updates as well, and I had a very stable G3 mac running Panther. But one day I left it idle for a few hours, so it went into sleep mode. the Screen turned off.
The problem is, that I can't get it to wake back up. I even tried changing monitors, but I still get no display.
So I gave up and power cycled. When the machine turns on, the monitor is about to turn on (green light on monitor) but then goes back to the black screen (sleep mode/orange light on monitor).

Try re-setting the PRAM..i think the sleep settings may be stored in PRAM , so if you re-set it all should be as it was. (on startup press 'command, option, P and R' all at once until it chimes 3 or 4 times). If you've already done this, sorry, can't think of anything else.. P.S...if(like me) you decided afterwards to disable the annoying sleep control panel, don't delete it as the setting remains and can't be changed..just disable it - set it to "never'..i assume OSX is similar to OS9 in this regard...
