Comment: Hi, I've tried to update my g3 (green) from
OS 9.0 (original) to 9.1.
After checking HD the updater stops,
installation log shows HD check as
finished OK.
There was no problem to update to 9.04.

Reply: (edit)Not sure if this is it but have you tried to do the
install w/extensions off? I had problems with
installations and uipgrades on my G3 and G4 and
most of the time, that would solve it. Or, if you can't
start with all extensions off, try the OS base
extensions.

Reply: (edit)I have found the G3's to be a bit flaky with
updates. Some bad juju or something,
but I have went as far as to unplug all
peripherals but the k/b&mouse (mic,
speakers, enet, scsi, usb, etc) before
doing anything like that and it seems to
work (and booting w/extensions off is a
big help).
