Ok, I have a bunch of macs that need to be cleaned up, (i.e. the hard drive formated and the OS installed), before I can put them out on sale.

What I have is 8 Mac LC580, 1 Performa 637CD, 2 Mac LC II, 2 Mac Classic, 1 Mac Color Classic, and 1 Mactell.

I have the 9 and 9.1 OS Cds, as well as the 7.56 OS CD I believe it is.

I am a PC, Windows user, I have dealt with Mac very little.

I have tried to reinstall the OS, but it leaves the information on the disk. I have tried to use the disk formater, Initiallize, or something, but it says that it won't let me because a file is in use. I have tried to boot to the Cds so that the HD is not in use, but it errors, or freezes. the error is a Mac face, x eyes, and a frown, it has some numbers below it.

Anyway what I need is a way, or a program, that I can put onto a bootable mac disk so that I can boot it up and format the hard drive. Also, it should be known that alot of these computer do not have a CD Rom drive, all the 580s do but the Classics and Color Classics, and the LC IIs, don't, I forgot if the Performa has one. I know the Mactell has one.

If you know of a mac disk format program, low-level would be the best, that is free, or has a trial, I only need it for a week or so, that can go onto a floppy and will be booted by the Mac OS, (I don't care if its Linix, Unix, or Mac program, as long as it will boot it), and can format the HD, it would be very much appriciated if you would tell me that how or where to go to get it.

OR if you know what I should do to clean them up. (I would just take a sludge to them, I don't really like Macs, but the company is trying to sell them.)

Thank you for reading this long post! Any replies would be appricated!

George
