I just bought my first Mac, a PowerMac G4. I loaded MS Office X, which I need for compatibility with my office. I loaded the keyboards for Thai and Turkish on the Input Menu, and can use them with web pages, but can't figure out how to use them with MS Word. The little flags appear, but they are grayed out. Any ideas?

Word may well not support Thai or Turkish input. Microsoft has been historically very bad about supporting international character sets.
