What makes you think the drive needs alignment? What are the symptoms? Do you mean aligning the drive to the slot on the case, or aligning the read/write heads or rails inside the drive mechanism? Since you have been so descriptive in your post i can only remind you how cheap a drive is, and if it is the mechanism that's in question you may want to surf over to Shreve Systems and grab a replacement. ---To ALL posters: Please be as specific as you can, and people would be more willing to answer your questions.

I see the author of response #2 has some 'issues' with divulging his/her identity and e-mail address. Bad self-image I suspect.

I have a desktop model G3 266 that is giving me floppy problems. The computer will only accept floppies that have been formatted by that particular computer. All other floppies from other machines aren't accepted and the computer wants to format them. The drive has already been replaced and the same thing happens. Is there some kind of floppy drive calibration utility or method of calibrating the floppy drive? I'm thinking it must be spinning at a weird rate. Is there a particular extension in the system folder that controls the floppy drive? I've searched every Mac resource I can get my hands on but there isn't a whole lot of material on the particulars of floppy disk drives.
