My problem is to pursuade XP pro on VPC on G4
Mac which is running "Cambridge Aero Explorer
for Windows---Vers 1.1" to see my GPS Secure
Flight Recorder .It is connected to USB by a U232
serial to USB converter. The U232 comes up OK
and Tests OK. Both it and the flight recorder work
fine on a actual PC. I do not have any PDA linked
as there is a conflict warning referring.
"Systems Information" to Components/USB
shows the U232 to be on USB Com Port 3.
There are 2 ports on the Mac so I take this to be a
"Virtual" port. There is no serial port on the Mac.
The Cambridge "Help" notes the importance of
"enabling "ports and allowing no conflicts.
In the program Tools----> Options ----> General---
-> Test Com Port permits testing 1 &2 but
perhaps not a "virtual" port?
The purpose of this VPC is to download flight
data into "SeeYou" ,a Flight Analysis Program
which runs OK though sluggish in 3D. The
statistical work is the key product however.
Cambridge Aero Instruments is a US Co and is on
the net.
SeeYou is a European Co and is on the net.

Can you advise on this hardware recognition
problem Please?

Is 'Virtual Port 3" an issue or not?

I don't think you're going to have much luck trying to
get VPC to do anything under WinXP Pro with 256MB
RAM.

If this program runs 3D and is mission critical, you'd
be best off getting a cheap Wintel machine and
running it on there.

A lot of PC hardware doesn't like running under VPC. Might not be solvable with your current setup...

But! How about using a Mac program to grab the data off the GPS directly? Hit MacUpdate - I saw something that sounds like it might help you a day or two ago.
