Whenever I restart my imac I get a
flashing system folder icon. It can take
over two weeks before it recognizes my
system folder. Next time I restart, the
same thing happens. I've initialized the
computer as well. Any ideas?

Help? My Imac can't find my system folder many times. I restart it and and I get the flashing icon. I keep restarting it zapping the pram and a hundred different things. Eventually, it starts back up

Do you mean intialized the hard drive? Flashing system folder usually means the OS is corrupted or missing or the hard drive is bad try botting off the cd instead by holding down the c key while starting up then run the hard disk utility to see if it finds any problem with the drive.

Why dont you try Disk Warrior 3.0? It will boot when your Mac Install/boot disk fails.
Then you can perform re-install of OS
