Ok, I would like to do this;
Have a Powermac G5 share its internet connection through a firewire 800 port. Have the G5 connected to some sort of Firewire 800 router or hub.... Which would be connected to 2 other macs (creating a firewire Network) (each computer needs to have its own ip address)ALSO NEEDED... A Raid Drive connected somewhere in there where all the Mac computers can mount it
Could anyone give me some advice on how to accomplish this? thanks.
Here is the hub/repeater ive been looking at but im not sure what it would do. http://www.nitroav.com/product/113/#
Here is the Raid drive ive been looking at:

I quote:
"Apple does not support firewire networking but......."

...but have found this software and quite cheap but overcomes the peer-to-peer MAC Standard:

I've just put in a 1000Base-T network with a Dell
PowerConnect 2716 (16 port) hub. i'm pretty sure this is
what you need and you'll save yourself a lot of effort and
time wasted since you're going to get around the same
speed. And the speed is phenomenal.

Thanks for the replies, Ive looked at some gigabit hardware and I think that would be better especially since Firewire 800 has a limit of 15' range.
I found the router ide like to get:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833127158and for my powermac G5 which doesnt have a 1000Mb/s card, I was wondering if this would work for my (Powermac G5 Dual 1.8, 64bit)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124121In the Powermac that I have the PCI-X is taken by the videocard and in system profiler it says the other slots are PCI, im not sure if standard PCI gigabit adapters work with the Powermac.

All G5 towers and G5 iMacs have 1000Base-T. but you need
to check against the www.mactracker.ca database to make
sure.
