I'm trying to disassemble my slot loading iMac with partial success. I'm able to remove the bottom cover, but am having a little trouble removing a few screws. I'm doing this because I have an external monitor I would like to hook up. My questions are, is it possible to connect an external monitor to the slot loading version (I know it is with older ones), and has anyone successfully taken apart one of these?

You don't have to remove any screws turn your imac over there are 2 panels the first panel will give you access to the Memory the other will give you access to a VGA connection.

Ummm. Not on my machine. One goes to memory and the harddrive/cdrom and the other one just shows the top of the motherboard. I have seen the pictures, and mine does not look like that, at all.

Which iMac do you have. What CPU speed, what year is it from, and is it a slot loading cdrom drive or tray load?
The very first original iMacs do not have the VGA connection, while the updated models from 1999 do.

My iMac is the slot loading version with a 350 mhz processor. I do not know what year it was made in, as I just recently bought it. I am assuming it is newer just because I have seen pictures of older versions and they have the VGA connections.
