The window xp computer I am using right now is running out of hard drive space. I know I will be getting a apple computer in about four-five month. Once I get the new computer I would be giving the window xp computer away. Should I add an internal hard drive or external hard drive? If I choose a external hard drive how would I need to set up the drive so it would work with OS X?

After you get rid of the computer with Windows XP, you can simply take the external hard drive and plug it in to the Mac and it should show up in the Finder. This may be a better investment than an internal hard drive because it could help you also move things from your old computer to your new Mac. There are also different kinds of external hard drives. The two main ones are USB and FireWire. Depending on what your computer with Windows XP has, and what your new Mac will have, you can buy accordingly. And just in case you didn't know that if your buy a Mac that is brand new, all models have FireWire and USB. If you need information on an older model Mac computer's ports, go to www.applehistory.com .
