O.K, strictly speaking, Lite-On doesn't make
"mac" burners of any kind, *but* some DO
work on them anyways..the very latest
"Authoring support" update for OS9 even
supports a few models..although I can't
speak for DVD-RW drives, my Lite-On CD-RW
works fine on it,and even will boot a system
software CD (after about 5 minutes or
so...)..i pulled it out of my PC and into my
Mac just to see if it would work, as it's a
much faster one (52x) than my old one .
Mine is listed as 'apple disk burning-
supported' in apple system profiler' but the
apple burner software itself won't burn with
it- says it's 'unsupported'..
Toast works fine with it tho..
As to your DVD-RW , if Toast Titanium 5.0
recognizes it you should have no problem
burning DVDs on OS 8.6 (the last version of
toast ti that runs on 8.6 is 5.0.2, i
think), but DVD support was already added in
5.0, to Titanium..so although you won't be
able to use Apple's disk burner in 8.6 (it
wants 9 minimum) Toast Ti will work, and
maybe Nero Max 1.1.7 might, and perhaps
others i don't know about....

I bought my husband a SCSI Yamaha
8424 cdrw drive for his beige g3 with 9.2.
It is installed and the mac sees it, but it
will not play cd's and I cannot find burning
software. Can anyone help.
