We have 100baseT networking at my workplace
with a number of Macs, Win NT, Win 95
machines etc (mostly Mac oriented though). I
can copy a 10MB file across the network from
an NT Server to a Win 95 PC in about 3
seconds flat (yes, 3 secs). However if I
copy the exact same file between the exact
same machines, but start the copy by using
the chooser on a Mac, it can take from 75 to
120 seconds. Can anyone tell me please, whats
going on and how to fix it? Its almost as
slow from the NT to a Mac. My main aim is to
get fast copies from the NT server to and
from Macs. We,re using good gear-G3 Macs, OS
8.6, Cat 5 cable, Intel 510T Switching Hub,
Alpha Win NT Se

i copy very large files from mac to 98clients or nt clients and back with no such problems so i would question your setup.
firstly is the server configured correctly? that is , obviously you will have mac services installed on the server, but consider two things...
is the mac accessible volume setup correctly? if in doubt , from a command prompt run setup /i oemnsvsm.inf /c uaminstall.
is the protocol correct. an nt server always defaults to the protocol at the top of the list on the client.
