I can't seem to get my computer to work with internet. I have a dsl modem and it works fine with PC, but so far it doesn't recognize when I hook it up with ethernet on my mac. I've deleted all reference to access manager or the old software that was used to access the internet (I think..... I'm new with PC file system. I'm not sure if the ethernet broke in transport from my parent's place to here or if there is something other going on. If you need more info, I can elaborate. So far I have called a Mac tech and he has said if I brought it in, he might be able to tell. Other than that he seemed pretty bored and advised that I get a G5 and os10...

check the linght on the ethernet card....
does it blink is it green?? and blinking or ist it yellow?

If the dsl is working on the pc it is not the cat 5 ethernet cable...check the TCP IP settings on your mac..set them to ethernet..auto.. if that does not work them you migh want to swicht the card with another one..take it out and look at the manufacturer and see if you can get it at your local computer shop..

Call me naive but is there a light?? lol I only know of 3 lights, the one on the dsl modem, the one on my external cd drive and the one on the PowerPC box. If it's the one that is on the box isn't that the main light? Oh and the one on the monitor.. But the one on the modem marked for ethernet is one that doesn't come on.

Update: In about a week I am switching to cable so I will be able to find out more
