I keep getting an error when i am trying to connect
to Windows 2003 server

I hit apple + k then the connect to server box
comes up, I find my server and in the address is
says smb://192.168.0.102. I try to connect and it
asks me for my username and password, I enter it
and i get an error messge it says

An error has occurred (error = -5000).

any Ideas?
I have already installed File Services for
Macintosh and the appletalk protocol and have
made a mac share drive, when i was running win
2000 server thats all I had to do

I think I found out what to do here. I've tried it from linux but not the apple so far but I'm sure it'll work. I will be able to check it next week.

Seems like you need to make a registry change on the Windows 2003 box. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters

The value of RequireSecuritySignature needs to be changed from '1' to '0'.

One note: If this is a domain controller, you will need to set it with the 'Domain Controller Security Policy' editor under the 'Administrative Tools' Menu. Otherwise it'll be reset nightly.

You need to go to 'Security Settings', 'Local Policies', 'Security Options'. You then need to set the 'Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications' to disabled. It is enabled by default.
