I just finished installing Adaptec Toast Deluxe. Now when I go to open Sound Edit 16 v.2 I get the message: Cannot open file type "unknown", application suddenly quit unexpectedly error of type 12. what is error type 12? and what can i do to fix this problem. thanks

Hi Jeffery! The Error 12 is an invalid command error. In other words, the application issued a command to the OS ROM which does not exist in the ROM. This usually happens when the application has been written for newer versions of the OS, though it can happen the other way around as well, but less likely. You should check with the vendor to see if there is a patch to fix the problem. Or, if the OS you are running is really old and the Application is new, you may need to upgrade your OS in order to use the software. Most applications are backward compatible, but as you get farther apart in the creation dates, the more likely you are to run into this error because the developers cannot make software to be compatible with every OS out there.
