Comment:

I am new to this forum and am beginning
to REALLY like it! I work in a repair shop. If
a Mac powerbook comes in from
someone who bought it at a garage sale
or was given the computer by someone
who has since died, how does one get
past the password if it requires one?
Removing the CMOS battery did not do it.
Any help out there?

You need to boot from another boot medium and wipe out the original hard disk, or you can remove the hard disk, hook it up as an external device (usually via a FireWire bridge) and format it that way.
