Try this. Launch your browser. Select preferences from the Edit menu. If you use Netscape, click on "Advanced" in the list on the left side of the Preferences window. If you use Explorer, click on the triangle next to "Web Browser", and select Java from the list below. In either case, simply check the box for "Enable Java". Check some of the other Java preferences, and if everything looks good, click on OK. See what happens. I am no Java expert, but I think this might be what you're missing.
