I have just bought an iBook G4 from Amazon, but the
supplied "Mail" program does not suit my needs. Can
someone recommend me a free email client application
that is almost equivalent to Outlook Express with these
features that are essential for me:1. POP3
2. SMTP
3. Can import email messages from Outlook Express
4. Can import email addresses from Outlook Express.I know the Microsoft Word-Mac package includes
Entourage, which is the Mac equivalent of Outlook
Express, but I would like to keep away from Windows
programs if I can avoid it, as my reason for switching to
Mac is to get away from anything that could attract virus/
worms/etc.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

I believe you are a bit misinformed, Entourage is a MAC only
program, it does not run on Windoze at all, there are few if
any security flaws, and as it runs on Mac OS X, they are no
viruses that have been found to date that affect the Mac, that
being said, Mail WILL do ALL you are requesting combined
with AddressBook, there is also Eudora, Netscape and
Mulberry.

Thanks for your reply. I find it very frustrating to use Mail that came with the iBook. It keeps stating that my password is not valid and I have to keep inserting the pw at least ten times, and then give up each day. I now have to go back to my windows IBM laptop to do my daily email through Outlook Express. I had high hopes of using this cute portable iBook for my daily email stuff, but now it's only good for websurfing.
I found in another forum, someone was also having the same problem with Mail kicking back the password, although other users helped with suggestions, but to no avail.
Thunderbird Mac version also has the same password problem on my iBook. I have spent many hours in the last 6 days since I bought iBook. Very exasperating.
