HELP!
I have just switched to DSL but have had
to do it running my old mac system 9 OS.
I usually use system X but the driver on
the install disc wasn't compatible. Does
anyone know how or where I can get a
driver for system OS X. My dsl modem is
a westell wirespeed. All / any help very much appreciated. Ta.

OS X has a built-in PPPoE driver, so if your modem hooks up via Ethernet to your Mac, you should be OK.
If it uses the USB connection, well, OS X might have to take a back seat to OS 9 for now...
p

is it a wire speed 516? if so then

2. Click on the Network icon.

9. In the Account Name field, type your User name.
10. In the Password field, type your password.
11. Check the box next to Save Password.
12. Click the PPPoE Options button.
13. Check the box next to Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications.
14. Uncheck the Prompt to stay connected if idle for 3 minutes.
15. Uncheck the box next to Disconnected if idle for 3 minutes.
16. Check the box next to Disconnect when user logs out.
17. Click the OK button.
18. Click on the TCP/IP tab
19. Click the arrow box on the Configure drop down list and choose Using PPP.
20. In the Search Domains box, type your domain
22. Click Save button.
23. Close the Network window.

Many thanks,
Unfortunately I am using a USB
connection so until OS X is catered for I
will have to settle for OS 9!Thanks again all.

i have the same problem
i have a adsl modem with usb
connections and cant find a damn driver.
the closest i came is
a alcatel driver but cant seem to get it
working. im going to buy a ethernet
modem as they are better for os x and im
not screwwing around any more it will
cost me heaps but!

Don't use USB. USB for anything, DSL or cable just sucks. Use ethernet if you have it. If not, GET IT. It's a bit faster and tons more reliable. Plus there's no drivers needed. It's all built in. They should never have put USB as an option for dsl/cable modems. It's a nightmare, I deal with em everyday.
