I looked on Apples site and saw something called Xserve, but it doesn't say anything about the software it is running. Is it just running the same OSX? Also, what tools do they have for administering a network? Do they have better interfaces then ones for linux? I'd assume they might be similiar.

Well, I can see what they claim it can do, but I was wondering what someone who actually used a Mac as a server thinks of it. BTW, I am going to be setting up a server for a friend and I am looking for a better and/or cheaper solution to 2000 Server.

I have yet to see a review of the XServe that's anything less than positive, which says to me that Apple is telling it pretty much how it is.

Even the US Government (for all it's worth) has said that the XServe is a quality server. And plus, it's not Windows.
