Subject: Disk Images don't Mount....invisible?
Comment:

hi my friend has a titanium G4, with expanded hard drive and RAM,
running OS X.
the trouble is when you go to mount a disk image on that machine, it successfully
checksums and mounts, but the volume doesn't appear on the desktop. if you drag it again to disk copy, it says, "cannot, it's already in use". yet it can't be located with Sherlock, nor found on the desktop still. what's going on? i ran Norton Systemworks on it, and it supposedly fixes
some stuff. but when you boot off of a disk and run DiskWarrior, it runs about
40 minutes then appear to lock up. when you boot from a CD, and open the hard
drive, no desktop folder exists within. any ideas?

See if you can find any prefs that look like they're related to Disk Copy in the library/preferences/ directory. Toss them in the trash, log out, log back in, and see if the problem persists.
