Disappearing Hard Drive Partition

after installing a second 200 gig maxtor ATA, i partitioned it into 50gig for OS and Apps, and the rest for storage. after a week, my Partition (storage)icon disappeared. i panicked, then rebooted into 10.1 on my old hard drive. the Storage drive showed back up, and after rebooting into Panther back onto my new drrive, the "storage" partition showed back up. i thought everything was ok, just last night, it happened again. the drive icon just disappears. any suggestions?
