I have read on this site the same
problem I seen on several 233 Imacs-
dead video. I work in a repair shop and
have figured out how to test the "rest of
the Imac" by plugging in an external
monitor. What I would like to learn how to
do is determine (when they respond to
this test) what is bad: the fly-back or the
analog board, or the CRT. I found the
place to buy the replacement fly-back, but
I'm inexperienced at putting component
level parts on boards. Are they tough to replace? Not to mention the
horror stories about pulling that high
voltage lead off the transformer-to CRT. I
am seeing about 1 of these type of
failures a week and it would sure be nice
to be able to fix them instead of sell them
for parts. Also does anyone know where
to get the power supply or analog boards/
rebuilt or exchanged at prices that do not
exceed the value of the Imac? Thank you

Flybacks are reasonably simple to replace. Just desolder, drop the new one in place, and re-solder with fresh flux and solder.
The power and analogue boards are basically garbage once they fail, unless you can determine *exactly* what's wrong with them.
