HELP! I've tried EVERYTHING I could think of to get my tray-loading CD-ROM drive to work. It just quit working one day and I'm not sure what to do now. Is there a dealer that sells used parts for iMacs? Or should I buy an external CD-ROM drive? Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

Replace the internal, because if you don't, you'll lose your ability to boot from the CD-ROM drive.
MCE sells replacement drives that also burn CDs, but they're $200, which is probably close to the value of the iMac itself. Of course, it's far cheaper than getting it fixed at a service provider, where it will be more like $300 and you won't have CD-R or CD-RW capability.
You might be able to get one on eBay if you're patient, and there have been some people who have fitted laptop-style CD-ROM drives in theirs as replacements. I think I might have seen a discussion about that on Applefritter recently.
