Comment:

Even though I have run the DAVE uninstaller (I
mistakenly installed an older version which
presented kernel errors), DAVE components
remain in the System folder. These components
appear to be interfering with the built in SMB
services, for when I attempt to connect to my PC
for file sharing using these services I receive a
message saying "DAVE is not configured correctly
: run the setup assistant." I'm not selecting the
Dave Network in the Connect to Server window!
Why is it even there when I've uninstalled the
program? I cannot manually delete the remaining
components because they are owned by the root.
How do I resolve this problem?

OK to log in as the root administrator first you must
enable it.

Goto Applications/Utilities/NetInfo Manager
and enable the root user.

You will enter a new password for the root
Administrator and then restart
and then you need to log on as the root
Administrator
and then you can delete what you need.

Hope this helps

PS this is all for OSX Jaguar I am not sure if the older
OSX is the same.

Or just drag the specific files onto a Terminal window after having typed 'sudo rm' on the command line.
