Comment:

Frequently when my Mac crashes (2-5 times
daily), what appears to be code will appear in the
upper left hand side of the screen (maybe 2 out of
5 times). It will say things like:

system failure: cpu- 0 Code- 000000001 Corrupt
stack
Latest crash info for CPU
Exception state SV=0x172380
PC- 0600092054; msr=0x00001030; tar=
0x0fb4bb98; tsisr=0x40000000; lr=0x000023

Any idea what the problem might be or how I
could correct it?

I'm not sure if this is helpful but this system would
ONLY lode on my back up drive. It crashed every
time I tried to load it on my primary drive. I took it
to the Apple store and they ran some tests and
said the hardware was ok.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Boot from OS 9 and run Disk First Aid on all your drives. Fix any problems encountered, and once you can't fix anything else buy DiskWarrior and run that until it no longer finds any problems.

Then restart into OS X and run Disk Utility to repair your permissions.

Then see if it stops crashing...

Hi there... I get a similar (or the same?) crash, but I think it has to do with an internal DVD upgradee I did. Did you reconfiger your mac's hardware somehow?

I have a PowerMac G4 (Quicksilver) 733, running OS X 10.2.6, 896 RAM

The problem started after I replaced the internal CD-RW with a Pioneer DVD-R A105 drive. The drive works fine, but I get this horrible crash and screen dump once a while. I've tried re-installing the system and testing/defragmenting/reformatting multiple bootup drives (including with OS 9 as suggested), but none of that helped.

Here's some of the error message I get (the hex codes are not all there). Note references to DVD and IO protocols.

System Failure: cpu=0; code=0000001 (Corrupt stack)
