Is there a way to convert a Mac picture to something that can be viewed on a PC? I've tried adding many extensions to the file, but nothing is making it able to open.

I have the image listed as the Homepage URL above, under my name, if someone could convert it for me and email me the picture. I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Is it a macintosh PICT file? If you just want to view it on your PC, AND you have Word, select Insert - Picture - From File..., choose the file and in the Convert File window choose Macintosh PICT. The picture should be pasted into the document (this is on Word 97, but it should be similar on other versions). If you want to convert the file, I don't think changing the extension will do it, you'll need to get a converter application like GraphicConverter (http://www.lemkesoft.com).

Having an extension on the photo would help too. The one you have up there doesn't have any extension.

What program is the PC user trying to view it with? PICT files are viewable with most good photo apps on PCs.

I tried Phil's suggestion w/ Word 97, but got an error message. Must not be a PICT file.

Have any of you tried to view this file on your Mac's?

i tried making it a jpg, gif, pct, png, and bmp file... all of which didnt work.

Do you have resedit? try getting info on the file and seeing what its file type and creator are... that should shed a little light on what it is

Type and creator are going to be dependent on how it's downloaded and won't be useful, unfortunately.

There *is* something that looks like type and creator data in the file itself, though. There's a Photoshop tag (8BIM) and BOBO, which is either a type or creator code that I can't remember right now but have definitely seen before.

GraphicConverter can't open it at all, which leads me to believe it's either corrupt or not a picture.

Anyone remember what BOBO is?

I did some internet research, and I believe it's a ClarisWorks Graphic file (CWGRBOBO), created in ClarisWorks Paint. (According to the web page in the homepage link above).

So, anyone got ClarisWorks Paint? :-)
