control strip too high on screen

iMac DVSE 2000, but this seems to be a problem with lots of macs...So my stupid control strip has migrated from the lower corner of the screen almost up to the toolbar now....How can I get it back in its place?? It seems loosely to be related to playing games that change the display to a lower resolution and don't restore the dotwise position of the thing otherwise...thanks for your help.
