To be honest if you just got the computer and/or the modem then you shoukd call COX cable and they will talk you through their setup.
Most of the time though all you have to do is make sure everything is plugged in and turned on before you turn on the computer. Then plug in the ethernet cable from the modem to the back of the computer and turn it on. Once it is finish starting up then open the "Control Pannels" folder then open the "TCP/IP" control pannel make the settings "ethernet" and then in that setting set it to "DHCP Server" then close the windows and start up your web browser.
Usually after you do this you still have to go to COX Cables website to register the modem so you will have to call them and ask them for the web address.
well thanks but the whole problem is I didn't disconect the power to my cable modem and all the cache memory hadn't been flushed but oh well its done know and Im happily online with my new PB12, THANK YOU for your help
