command-delete shortcut not working

Subject: command-delete shortcut not working
OS: OS X
CPU/Ram: 2.16 GHz / 3 GB
Model/Manufacturer: iMac G5
Comment:
When I try to use the keyboard shortcut command-delete to delete a file, nothing happens. But when I go to File>Move to trash it still shows command-delete as the shortcut. Why is it not working? Can someone help me get this shortcut working again?

Try repairing permissions and see if that helps.

Also, you could try downloading Onyx (it's free) and run it to
clean up your system.

Try going to 'System Preference > Keyboard & Mouse > Select the Keyboard tab > click Restore Defaults'.
