Hi
I wonder if anyone could give me some idea what may be wrong with my ibook.
I am unable to get it to start up beyond the initial grey screen and it is making a loud intermittent clicking noise. after a while the little mac symbol is replaced with a flashing question mark then it shuts down. I think this is a problem with the hard drive and wonder if it would be possible to replace it myself.

The clicking is probably the hard disk, yes.
Replacing the hard disk is NOT something you'll want to attempt yourself unless you're very patient and very good at working with lots of little tiny easily-lost screws.
