Hi,
First of all, I just want to specify that I never worked on a Mac before, so I'm not familiar at all with this OS. I have to make an old software run on someone's Mac OS 10.4. She told me that it was working before when she was using Mac OS 10.3 but now they upgraded her OS to 10.4. From what I can see, the software is too old to run natively under OS X so it must run under the "Classic Environment", which doesn't start at all since they upgraded her computer. I made a little search on forums and on Apple's website and the solution seems to upgrade the Classic Environment to 9.2. Right now the Classic Environment is using a Mac OS 9.1 installation, which I think is the problem. I can see the Mac OS 9.1 startup screen, but it doesn't go beyond that point. And Classic is starting without extentions.
I will get the Mac OS 9.2 CD this afternoon. But I don't know what I will have to do with this and what are the risks. From the Apple website it says that I must boot from the CD and install it. But that's all, there is no documentation or procedure on the installation.
What do I have to do to install the Classic Environment 9.2? If I boot on the CD and install 9.2, will it erase Mac OS 10.4 or it will just install itself on a different folder?
Thanks.
JF

It wont erase anything, just install a 'system folder'
and a few other folders and files...,or upgrade the
OS 9.1 system that seems to already exist there
anyways..
You should get the free 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 upgrades
from apple's website if your system is 9.20 proper,
i think OSX 10.4 will require it..(sorry don't know
the link. but a search for it will eventually turn it
up).
