I have just recently done some upgrades to my MAC. I have a G4 with dual 450's with 1.5 gigs of memory.
I just recently upgraded the system to 9.2.2 and then on to OSX 10.1.5. I have made all the updates including installer update, etc.
When I try to start the classic environment from the preferences menu it does not start. The dialog screen comes up that says it is trying to start and nothing happens. The little blue progress bar doesn't even move. I can press cancel and stop it if I want. It just won't start no matter which way I go about it. I have even left it for up to an hour and the same screen is there showing the same status.
Anybody have any suggestions?

This may be too simple but did you select the
system you want to use for Classic in the sys
prefs?I have an oddity with my PB in that Classic starts
up and the blue bar goes about 3/4 across then
stalls. However if I click on the desktop and go to
use the Classic app all is OK and the app runs
fine. Checking in the sys prefs it says Classic is
running even though it never seemed to finish.

Don't remember if X.1.5 is the same as the later
versions but open System Preferences and click
on the Classic icon. When it opens it will offer
some choices such as whether you want Classic
to automatically startup when you start the Mac.
It will also show you what volumes/systems are
available to use for Classic. You should select the
one (you probably only have one) you wish to use
in that panel. For further reading on this and similar subjects:
