I am trying to change the monitor resolution from its current 600 x 460 to 600 x 800. When I use the monitor control panel there are no options available to change the resolution. I have a NEC MultiSync XV15. Using a PowerMac 7200/90 OS8.6 80megs RAM
Any Ideas?
Thanks Mike A

You may want to change the Monitor
control panel options from "Resolution:
Show Recommended" to
"Resolution:Show ALL". If when you click
on a resolution the screen goes black or
wacky DON'T DO ANYTHING and it will
revert to previous resolution in about ten
seconds or so. To keep the changes you
will be asked to click 'OK', and you are
given that amount of time to do so before
it reverts.

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunatey the
Monitor Control screen does not offer the Show All
option when I click on the "Resolution: Show
reccommended" button.
Is there something missing in my computer maybe?

The 7200's onboard video may only be
powerful enough to push your current
resolution. If you change your color
settings to a lesser mode (from
MILLIONS of colors to THOUSANDS, or
256) you should be getting more
resolution options. Other suggestion is to
get some additional V-Ram if your 7200
will take it, or get a video card. 4 meg PCI
cards for mac are pretty cheap.

I tried your suggestion to change the color settings
to thousands or 256 with no success. The good
news is that I was able to find a shareware program
called SwitchRes2 that installs a icon in the menu
bar. The dropdown menu for that icon gives me
about 10 resolution choices all the way up to
1024x768. So for the time being I'll consider the
situation resolved. Thanks for your input Fieraci.
