I burn audio CDs on my Mac, but they won't play on my portable player. Why? I use the Disc Copy located in my Utilities folder. Yeah, I am a dummy...this is my first computer. Duh? : )
Question deux: I spend far too much time playing on the Pogo site. Lately, the program has quit a lot & the last time I tried to play, I received the message that the Java was not loaded. I was instructed to install Microsoft Java, but the file "msjavx86_3805.exe" will not install. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your response(s)!!!

1. Have you tried using iTunes to burn your CD's? I've actually never heard of anyone using Disk Copy to burn audio CD's, so I can't begin to fathom what problems might arise.
2. Microsoft Java is for Microsoft Windows, and won't work on a Mac. You might try running Software Update (In System Preferences) to get the latest updates to OS X and the latest Apple Java Virtual Machine.

Yes Fathom, I've used iTunes, with no success. I will try Software Update. Thanks for your response.

What happened when you tried iTunes? I ask since that's one of the things iTunes does best....

I have exactly the same problem using iTunes. Follow the instructions for burning down to the letter and come up with a coaster. Plays OK on the computer, but not on a standalone CD player. Actually that is not quite true. It plays OK in a Discman, but not on a big stack system. Could be the stack system, you say. But every other CD I have that I bought -- i.e. professionally manufactured -- works in the stack system fine. Actually the system doesn't seem to know there is a CD in it. Yes I burned using "audio CD" and all that, I know I'm not trying to play straight mp3s. Any idea what the problem might be?

It might be the speed that it is burned at. Bring the burn speed down and try again.
