CD-RW? How can I tell?

I have a friend who has a Mac OS X
Processor: 933 MHz Power PC G4 (3.3)

Can you tell me how he can tell if he has a CD-RW drive or just a CD/DVD?

Thewolfe, a PC guy

If he doesn't have a CD-RW, does Apple use "flash drives?

Trying to figure out a way to backup some data.

He does have a desktop and is on cable/DSL but also don't know anything about networking so I could drag files from laptop to desktop.
