Hi, before I repartitioned my drive I burned all my stuff onto some CDs in Panther on my ibook G3.
I had about 1000 mp3s, which took a few CDRs - over 160 files on each, no folders - I just put them straight on the CDR. I didn't test them. Now I find that on all these CDRs, that though all the filenames are correct, all mp3s with the same first letter are actually just copies of the first mp3 beginning with that letter.
It's too weird. Especially as only the CDRs containing the mp3s came out like this.
Linux (also on the G3) sees the same weird problem - I don't think I've got HFS+ support there, as filenames seem truncated to 30 chars (ISO2? Yet permissions are preserved... So RockRidge? Is that limited to 30 chars?)
Has anyone seen this before? Or know what it is? That's even more important to me than getting my tunes back, though of course that would be fantastic if anyone has any ideas how to do that too.
Did OSX see all those mp3s and try and make an 'MP3CD'? (whatever those are?)
Or is it something to do with the number of files in the root folder? (there's 163 on this CD I've got in the drive now) Or in any folder?
Major thanks to anyone who knows...
Cheers - Chris
