I use Netscape for browsing and in the preferences have chosen Quicktime under applications as preferred program for audio and video. When the quicktime player shows up on a page you can highlight it to get its preferences and select to save the data playing in the cache. As soon as it has finished you can go to your system's preferences file and open the netscape user's folder and go down the cache list until you find the possibly larger size file in the format you have just captured and make a copy of it, which you can then rename and save in a folder somewhere else to play again later. I don't know how you wish to reprocess it after this but at least it gives you a hard copy to enjoy later and deal with as you choose. (I know because my son likes skateboarding clips with related audio etc). If you don't use quicktime, another possibility is to hold the mouse button down on the link which opens the data you want and a menu appears giving you the option to save the link, which transfers it to your hard drive.
