Can't view images anymore- Weird

this is strange...machine didn't crash, but now when i go to open any .jpg or photoshop image, getting the prompt saying "can't find application that created/ no extension translators" no matter what image i open....i trashed the file exchange prefs, ran Diskwarrior and Norton, still doesn't work. any ideas? if i drop a file onto the Netscape icon it opens, but other than that, nothing works.

Rebuild your desktop file using TechTool (the free version).

thanks Pickle! why i was confused was because i had already run TechTool on it, and did a desktop rebuild. at least i thought i did, hit the button then left the room. then ran other stuff on it. . at any rate, i did it again, and it the finder is more like it's old self now. sorry to bother you...
