Can't send/receive email using Outlook E

For some reason when I try and "send
and receive all" the program quits and
nothing is received. Occasionally, I get the
message "unable to receive mail at this
time, try re-entering password". I have not
changed any of my settings and have
checked and double checked that they
are correct.

I have two email accounts, my outlook
express account uses a virgin email
address and it is the one that I use most
often. The other uses the freeserve
address above, and, since encountering
this problem, I have been able to receive
a few items of mail through it.

I would be most grateful to hear the
comments from anyone who has
experienced the same problem, or who
knows what the probem is. If it helps, I
am using Mac OS 9 (.0.4 I think) and I do
not currently use any extra utilities with my
email.

I had similar problems a couple months ago using
OE 5.02 with OS 9.04. After much time wasted
resetting preferences and account information,
rebuilding desktops, running utilities, and
scouring the net for answers, someone suggested
that I reinstall Outlook Express. I made a backup
copy of the Identities folder that lives inside the
OE folder (this is where all your account info and
email messages are stored). Then I downloaded a
fresh copy of OE and installed it. I gave it all my
account info and it worked beautifully. Then I
replaced the new Messages folder with the one
from my old Identities folder. My messages were
restored. I hope this works for you. I guess
something got corrupted in mine somehow. I never
knew what the problem was, but I was happy to
see it gone.

I call my on-line provider (Earthlink) for my Internet line and they re-set my e-mail. This was a quick and easy solution.
