Can't send mail OSX/Entourage

While sending a batch of ~450 e-mails (data merged from Word/Excel) using Entourage (v.X 10.1.1 - 2418) the messages stopped being sent with just over 100 to go. Since then, no mail can be sent. I get a "connetcion failer has occured" message with "Error: -23016" in the corner of the dialogue box. I've sent batches of mail like this dozens of time over the past two years on this system with no issues. I checked w/ Cablevision, and my account is fine (I can send using webmail) but Entourage won't send. Tried iMail as well -- same thing. Also tried overriding port 25 (using port 80) no luck. Mail is being received just fine, and the incoming server and outgoing server are the same (mail.optonline.net) Have restarted, reset airport, reset router, etc. Set up new identity in Entourage as well. Is there some OS-level configuration taht could have been altered while the e-mails were being sent? Any other thought as to how to get mail flowing out again?

Solved this on my own, but will post in case anyone else runs into similar difficulties. The one item I did NOT reset originally was my cable modem. Turned off airport, router, modem and then turned them on in reverse order and the cork came out of the bottle.
