Can't Rebuild Desktop

When I delete the desktop on my Mac G4 the finder quits before the rebuilding is complete. This also happened with my 9600 last month before upgrading

Try restarting it from CD and check your disk for errors. Also check if there is a (unprinted)file in your printer spooler folder, if so delete it. Hope it helps.
